FIELD & TRACK EVENTS

Traditional Highland Games

In their original form many centuries ago, Highland games revolved around athletic and sports competitions – often referred to as ‘gatherings’ and held between local clans, pitting their ‘champions’ against each other as well as serving martial, sporting, and religious functions.

Though other activities were always a part of the festivities, many today still consider the field events, including the piping and dancing, to be the traditional core of any Highland Games and provide engaging and competitive entertainment.
